Avoid Unplanned Pregnancy Video

Below is the video I made and uploaded to You Tube some months back on how to avoid unplanned pregnancy with the help of a chart guide I named DontGetPreggy Guide.
With this video, it was mentioned here of a product called Cycle Beads which is a tool for determining fertility period of a woman based on her menstrual cycle. This Cycle Beads is where I patterned the making of the chart DontGetPreggy Guide.

Pnoy versus Padre Damaso

President Noynoy Aquino has recently announced that he is in favor on the use of birth control methods among couples who want to practice family planning.

He further stated that couples themselves are in the best position to determine what is best for their families and what methods they would apply whether it be artificial or natural method of birth control.

This latest announcement by the President on the subject of responsible parenthood drew the ire anew of the Catholic bishops who are strongly opposed on the idea of promoting both the artificial and natural birth control method on family planning instead of just only one method which is the natural method of birth control.

However, President Aquino appears not bothered by his pronouncement even by a threat of 'excommunicado' by the Catholic prelates and was not inclined to reconsider his stand on the issue.

I remember when I started this blog, I cited that one of the reasons why birth control program has failed in the past is the lack of funds and support coming from the previous administrations to effectively implement this program. But now, that it finally got its full backing from this new and present government and even appropriating funds for the project, a new setback again has cropped up but now with the opposition coming from no less but these Catholic bishops.

This program of family planning has been going on since way back of the Marcos regime but its implementation was not very much successful on the grounds cited above. These bishops should have come out a long time ago when the program is still in its offspring to air their dislike on the plan but why only now?

And where is the so-called "separation of state and church" as being taught in the secondary education. I think the duty of the Church is to merely provide spiritual guidance to its vast Filipino Catholic members on the issue of birth control.

It is now the chance of the government to make its move but why are they now mingling on the affairs of the State. Why not let the government do its part on where the church obviously failed as shown by several incidents of abandoning of babies and leaving unborn child right infront of Catholic churches. Are these bishops just saving their own faces and could not admit the fact that they have miserably failed on their spiritual guidance against pre-marital sex and on birth control?

I hope our President will not be coward by the threats of these bishops of making him 'excommunicado' from the Catholic church.

Fetus found at airport, and near Manila churches

In my last post here, I featured the news story of a baby boy who was abandonded by her mother inside a toilet of a passenger jet Gulf Air at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Well, I was surprised to read another story that happened also at the same national airport. But this time, it was a fetus discovered dumped in a trash can of the airport terminal 1's departure area. This incident took place some few months back.

Read more here...

More incidents of fetus discoveries also ocurred just recently, this time it was found near Manila churches. One was found near Quiapo church while the other was discovered near the Manila Cathedral in Intramuros, Manila.

Read more here...

These are very disturbing news of the fact that many women chosed to abandon their babies or seek informal abortion from elsewhere instead of giving good life to their infants.

I just want to remind those having unwanted pregnancy at the moment that there are also people outside that are more than willing to adopt a child.

A good example is George Francis, the baby boy who was left inside a plane's toilet and is now being taken care of the social welfare office. It was reported that the agency have been flooded by offer for adoption of the innocent child.

You may also have a relative or distant relatives or friends who longed to have a child and is very much willing to adopt a child much more from a person they already knew.

A Women's Group Call on Congress to Allow Safe & Legal Abortion

A New York based women's group has appealed to Congress to pass a law allowing a safe and legal abortion in the country. The group cites from their report "Forsaken Lives: The Harmful Impact of the Philippine Criminal Abortion Ban" that a significant number of Filipino women are seeking underground procedures for an abortion that leads them to a more complicated situation while some have lost their lives due to abdominal infections.

While post-abortion services are legal, women who seek them are often harassed or discriminated against by medical health staff when they sought treatment for complications due to an unsafe abortion. Some were even threatened to be reported to an NBI officer giving them more anxiety instead of a relief.

The women's group, Center for Reproductive Rights is an advocacy group that says that it works to advance reproductive freedom as a human right. It said its report was based on their interviews with women who had undergone abortion, hospital authorities, law enforcers and political leaders.

World's Craziest Weddings Ever

Have you heard about the world's weirdest weddings ever of a man marrying a dog, a computer geek marrying his virtual girlfriend on computer games.

Or about a woman marrying a snake cobra and also a man getting married to his pet cat. These and more are what included in an article just read recently about the world's weirdest marriages between a human and an animal which practice are prohibited in some parts of the world where two incidents happened in India.

But in fairness, some of these were done as a form of punishment for a man who had sex with a goat or a belief to prevent an onslaught of a disease wherein a poor young girl was forced to marry a 'frog prince'.

DOH and Catholic Bishop finally agree on responsible parenthood, but not sex education.

The DOH and a Catholic bishop had finally come to terms when it comes to responsible parenthood but not on sex education.

Both parties are optimistic to have a solution to its long standing conflict on giving sex education to elementary and high school students as part of DepEd school curriculum. They are now seeing that responsible parenthood can be a more appropriate terms to use and not sex education.

However, there are still differences in their own terminology of responsible parenthood. While the government translates it as 'allowing couples to have a more active part in family planning', the Church on the other hand view it as 'allowing parents to follow the natural biological composition of the human persons'.

Although they differ on their own views, both parties are now confident that they can find a compromise with talking and not fighting each other and also without having to go back to square one.

Marrying in the month of June

It is now the month of June where most couples want to book their marriage vows in this season of time whether it is a church wedding or a plain ceremony officiated by a judge. But what is so special about having your marriage held in the month of June? Why not July or August? I have been asking this in my mind for sometime and it's only recently that I chanced upon this article and somehow given me a clearer picture and understanding of it.
So, here is a more precise explanation - that marrying in the month of June is likely to be lucky is believed to be an ancient superstition.
Some authorities also say that the month of June may have been the natural mating period for human beings in the primitive times.
But it is popularly believed that the month of June was named after Juno, the patroness of happy marriages. A proverb in Ancient Rome says, "Prosperity to the man and happiness to the maid when married in the month of June."

What does honeymoon after the wedding symbolizes?
After the wedding comes the honeymoon, and you may ask how did the word honeymoon come to exist?
It looks like the word honeymoon originated in some parts of European country wherein it is a traditional belief to supply a newly wed couple with enough mead for a month to ensure happiness and fertility of the couple.
Mead is an alcoholic beverage made from fermented honey, thus we get the word honeymoon (moon meaning "month")
It is also on the idea that the first month of marriage is the sweetest, as sweet as honey.

Sex Education in Public High Schools

The Department of Education is planning to push though with its project of teaching sex education in selected 29 public high schools including Metro Manila and in some provinces in the country being eyed as its pilot areas.

This was announced by the Department Head Secretary Mona Valisno months ago and is all set to be implemented this coming school opening on June.

As it is, the said plan is again being opposed by the Catholic Church but Secretary Valisno is determined to do it as she claims that some cases of sex related diseases among the youth have reached a very alarming rate, stemming from lack of knowledge on the subject.

CBCP Not Giving Up On Reproductive Health Bill

It's been a month now since my last post here and almost a month after the automated election that was held here in the Philippines. And as we can see on the election results, there are several candidates who are proponents of RH bill that emerged winner in their bid for government posts. Even Sen. Noynoy Aquino who is the leading presidential aspirant is a known supporter of the said bill which the Catholic bishops said promotes the use of artificial contraceptives and is thus, tantamount to an abortion.

Well, the Catholic church is still not giving up wherein a CBCP offical have issued an statement that they will continue to 'monitor' these elected government officials who openly support the controversial RH bill.

Filipino Voters Are Immature?

This is the claim of the Catholic church as the reason why many advocates of RH bill have won a seat in the last local and national election. But proponents for the said bill think otherwise and said that Filipino voters showed maturity by electing pro-RH bill.

The Reproductive Health Bill

This bill has been pending in Congress for sometime now as it gained wide criticisms from the Catholic church. It may pass on as a law but maybe not until after the election time is over and a new president of the Philippines is elected next month. I think passage of this bill as a law would not only benefit many Catholics but the whole Filipino nation as well. After i go over and read some provisions of the proposed law, i don't think it may cause any harm on anyone else, as it clearly states that the bill does not changes the law on abortion contrary to claims by other sectors that it promotes an abortion, to wit:
SEC. 3. Guiding Principles. – This Act declares the following as basic guiding principles:
m. While nothing in this Act changes the law on abortion, as abortion remains a crime and is punishable, the government shall ensure that women seeking care for post-abortion complications shall be treated and counseled in a humane, non-judgmental and compassionate manner.

There are some provisions or sections on the proposed bill that has been practiced already in the past so i think it is high time now that passage of this bill will only justify what has already been going on a long time ago.

The last paragraph of the above provision is what really caught my attention as i have observed that many women nowadays as in the past are really keen on observing birth control especially the natural birth control. But some women have an irregular menstruation period and may not fit to follow the natural method of birth control and left with little options available while the others just doesn't know how it is properly done. And as a result of their miscalculations, it resulted instead of their getting pregnant. Thereafter, some may seek any kind of remedy just to abort the formation of a child on their womb. Some of them may not be too successful and will experience continues bleeding on their uterus that would lead them to seek hospital assistance. But the problems got more complicated when some hospitals refuse to accept patient who undergone some kind of an abortion...

Just want to point out that i am not promoting abortion here, my contention is that what if there is a patient just like the example above and a hospital personnel refuses to give aid or medical assistance upon learning that she went some kind of an abortion, where would that poor patient seek instead for medical aid?

Two Young Bare-footed Tots In A Jeepney

About a couple of days ago, as I was riding on a passenger jeep on my way home one late afternoon, suddenly 2 young tots boarded in. Their age could be somewhere from 8 while the older one is about 12 years old. They both appeared to be a neglected child as can be gleaned from their appearance, both bare-footed and with dirty clothes on their body. As I was looking at the two, I noticed that they seem to divide among them some coins they have somewhat collected in a day's toil. As i looked at the younger one, I couldn't help but ask myself, where could have been the parents of these two children are? They should have been spending their time in school and studying but they aren't.

This is a similar scene I remember way back when i was a child. I was also on board a passenger jeepney then when we stopped on an intersection suddenly there were several children scampering toward us passengers asking for some spare coins. That scene also led me to ask myself the same question above that left unanswered.

That question have catapulted in my young mind then and later concluded that they could have been a neglected children or have been caused by an unwanted pregnancies.

And that forgettable scene is just one reason that have seemed influence and inspire me to make this blog on getting rid of unplanned pregnancy.

The chart I made here is a ready reference guide and free of charge, nothing to download no membership fee and can also be accessed via sms, birth control thru text messaging.

It is created on the same concept as the rhythm method of birth control with the help of a visual aid, that is the DontGetPreggy Guide. The chart indicates the fertile period of a woman and likewise the safe days to make love when a couple is avoiding an unplanned pregnancy.

CBCP vs DOH

The Catholic Bishops of the Philippines once again raise its opposition against the DOH on one of its implementing program aimed at preventing the spread of hiv-aids in the country.
Alarmed of the situation that the hiv virus had significantly spread in the past few months, the Department of Health adopted a program of distributing condoms as its measure to counter the threat of aids epidemic but the Catholic church opposed the idea saying it is not the right solution.
This made me think on what must be a better solution to the problem that is up on these bishop's mind? They just merely said no to the idea of DOH but never gave their own measure on how to combat the situation of this rapidly spreading deadly virus.
I think the Catholic church had already failed in its duty to spiritually guide those people who had aleady afflicted by the disease so now is the turn of the government agency involved like DOH to act on the situation.
But why the opposition of these so-called bishops? Why they should interfere with the job of other when they have miserably failed already to do what they must have done?
What i know is there is what we call a separation of church and state in our country, so why is the church mingling with the affairs which is a sole responsibility of the government or of the state?
Are these bishops aware of the fact that a large number of these virus carriers are from Asian countries including our country?
And according to a United Nations report that 90% of the 1.7 million Asian women living with HIV, the most affected are wives or girlfriends of overseas workers who came home and spread the disease to their partners.
Read more here...

If the Catholic bishops are not aware of these situations, then they should just let DOH do their job unless they came up with a better solution to remedy the problem.

Safety of Drugs in Pregnant Women Examined in New Study

Boston University’s School of Medicine is involved in an ongoing national study to help better understand which medications are safe for women to take during pregnancy and which medicines might harm an unborn child.

Most drugs on the market are not tested on pregnant women, as many studies designed to test the safety of these medications on pregnant women are deemed unethical.

Dr. Tara Dumont, a clinician with Boston Medical College’s Women’s Health Group, said that this lack of knowledge requires doctors and pregnant women to make judgment calls regarding the use of certain medications during pregnancy without adequate information or research.

“There’s so much that’s unknown,” said Dr. Dumont.

FULL STORY

In observing the natural method or rhythm method of birth control, there is also some confusions as to the safe and fertile period of a woman also because of lack of knowledge on the subject.

China Baby Soup

Have you heard about this thing?

Very disturbing pictures are now spreading across the internet about a certain delicacy which could be found in China. A town in Canton is now on trend making baby herbal soup to increase health and sexual performance/stamina. The cost of the fetus soup in China currency is approximately $ 4000 (around RMB 2000).

Happy Valentine to all & 'Kiong Hee Huat Tsai'?!!

I am greeting you all a Happy Valentine's Day. I hope you're doing fine with your partner and had a great plan for today to celebrate this special day of the year. This is a Valentine's day as far as I remember that coincides with the celebration of the Chinese new year. "Kung Hei Fat Choi" is the famous line we always hear for this chinese greetings especially in the chinese communities. But did you know that said phrase doesn't even mean a 'happy new year' but instead "congratulations and wishing you prosperity"? And the more appropriate one to say is "Kiong Hee Huat Tsai", this is according to an article written by Mr. Willard Cheng, an ABS-CBN correspondent.

And now, in line with today's observance of Valentine's day, may I remind once again each one of us to always be a responsible person by not allowing an unwanted pregnancy.

A Woman Files Lawsuit Against Manufacturer of Yaz Birth Control Pills

Drugwatch.com reported in their newsletter dated January 20, 2010 that a woman filed a lawsuit against Bayer Healthcare, the manufacturer of Yaz birth control, after she experienced a stroke and other side effects while taking Ocella, a generic version of the oral contraceptive.

The lawsuit was filed against Bayer Healtcare and other manufacturers and distributors on December 28, 2009, by Kenneth and Adrienne Cechura of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

I just wanted to remind everyone out there of the serious side effects caused by taking some of those birth control medications and prescription drugs. It is still much better and safer to practice the natural way of birth control like the rhythm method which was clearly illustrated here at DontGetPreggy Guide.

An Email Message from Drugwatch.com

Only recently I have received a very inspiring email from Drugwatch.com. Their website tackles on drug information, side effects and interactions as well as creating consumer and patient awareness on oral contraceptives and birth control pills. What made it so inspiring to continue with this blog is their request for me to include a resource link to their site which I readily obliged.
And so starting from now, you could be seeing their article or newsletter here which I decided to include in the Related News Story column with a subject, "A woman files lawsuit against manufacturer of Yaz birth control pills."

Together We Rescue Babies From Abortion

This is the title of an article I just came across this morning. It was written by Preacher Bo Sanchez who founded a ministry called Grace To Be Born, a sanctuary for women who had an unplanned pregnancy. The Grace ministry is just one of the ministries formed under Kerygma Family headed by Mr. Bo Sanchez himself. Their website is www.kerygmafamily.com

In said article, it mentioned that since the sanctuary opened its door last May 2009, it received several calls, texts and emails from pregnant women asking for help. But fear, shame, and pressure from parents or boyfriends prevented some of these women from availing their sanctuary. But there are also some who entered the sanctuary and most of them are students, domestic helpers and even call center agents. Most of them came already jobless, because they were either kicked out by their employers or quit themselves.

It is also interesting to note as it stated in the article that almost all of the women did not think of abortion and the idea of abortion was only forced upon them by their boyfriends and in some instances, by their parents. And at least two of them were threatened with death by their own parents if they didn't abort their baby.

Hey, are you shocked by now?

Here is one more thing, the latest caller they received just this morning is from a 14 year old pregnant girl who is thinking of an abortion but was persuaded to come to their sanctuary instead.

Why do am I telling you this?

It is precisely why this blog came about...

Animated Birth Control Guide

Some months back, I also created a video on an animated birth control guide where one can just click on the mouse and will know whether a day is a safe or fertile period of a woman.
I uploaded it to YouTube and here is the link to view said video.

Again, this is patterned on the original concept of cycle beads which was made by Institute for Reproductive Health and also where I got the idea to create the DontGetPreggy Guide chart.
Please take a look at the video and see if you want to have it and downloaded to your computer, just make an email request so i can send it to you free of charge. My email address is myquee98atgmaildotcom.

The Cycle Beads

It is now 2010 and we hope that this year will bring us more happiness, joy and laughter!
This is my first post on this blog for the year and just want to emphasize here that my creation of a chart which i named Dontgetpreggy Chart is just a quick reference or guide for those who are practicing the rhythm method of birth control. My confusions years ago over this method of birth control has lead me to its creation which i patterned with the Cyclebeads which is also much the same rhythm method but with the aid of a rosary-like stringed beads.
